health care, demography, epidemiology, biostatistics, occupational health, communicable
diseases, hospital administration and miscellaneous subject which are of importance
from a preventive medicine point of view. In addition visits of the students are arranged
to water and sewerage works, factories and major hospitals in the city. The subject is
taught from 1st year to 4th year. Students also prepare collection of clippings from

trust. Students are also expected to complete a number of projects on communicable
/non communicable diseases, maternal and child health and other pressing problems
of the community.
Students are educated about the role of WHO, UNICEF and the impact of international
collaboration in order to achieve diseases control at the national and international
levels. The necessary learning material of WHO, UNICEF is also available in the
Library for consultation. The final examination is taken only in 4th year. During
summer vacations students are encouraged to carry out surveys about prevalence of
communicable, non – communicable diseases and environment hazards. Each student
is expected to complete research oriented project before the final examination in
the fourth year. The primary health care is offered to the target population to develop

Pathology
The Subject of pathology is taught in 3rd and 4th year with professional exams in both
years. Department was established in July 2001.
It Consists of:
Three student’s laboratories which are equipped with microscopes and enough
teaching material (i.e. more then 100 slide transparencies and more then 60
tissue sections.)
One Museum having more than 86 specimens with self learning facility.
One lecture hall with overheads and slides projector, for 100 students.
One audio visual room cum seminar room with TV microscope, VCP and
camera to project gross specimen for student leaning.
One histopathology laboratory with facilities of processing cutting & sectioning
tissues for diagnostic purposes.
Pathology is the study of disease (Pathos). It serves as a bridge between the basic
sciences and clinical medicine. It is the scientific foundation for all the discipline of
medicine.
Pathology subject has been divided into general pathology, microbiology and special
pathology. The former deals with the reaction of cells and tissue to abnormal stimuli
and inherited defects.
Microbiology is the study of microorganism which is the most common cause of disease
in developing countries. Microbiology includes six disciplines i.e. general microbiology,
bacteriology, parasitology, virology, mycology and immunology.
Special pathology is based on a specific reaction and changes happened in a particular
disease.
Laboratory and museum have been developed to demonstrate gross specimen and
clinical based learning of studies.
A sound knowledge of pathology is essential to become a good and efficient
